Church Point woman wanted for home invasion arrested during I-49 traffic stop

A traffic stop on I-49 resulted in the arrest of a Church Point woman wanted by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright. NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies were patrolling on March 1 around 10:45 pm on Interstate-49 near milepost #132 south of Natchitoches when they stopped a 2021 Chrysler 300 passenger car for Speeding 98 miles per hour in a posted 75 mph speed zone.

Deputies identifed the driver of the vehicle, as Marina A. Ochoa, 29 of Church Point. During a National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System check, deputies learned Ochoa was wanted by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for Home Invasion. Ochoa was placed under arrest without incident, transported, and booked into LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center charged with Home Invasion out of St. Landry Parish.

Ochoa remains in LaSalle Corrections awaiting transfer to St. Landry Parish. The 2021 Chrysler 300 was impounded by a local wrecker service and will remain in their custody until family members can make arrangements to retrieve the vehicle.

The arrest was made by Deputy N. Kerby of the NPSO. Sheriff Wright said “we are pleased with the quick and professional actions of our deputies in making this arrest and keeping our parish safe.” If you observe suspicious activity in your community contact the NPSO at 352-6432 or 357-7852.
