The Natchitoches Police Department has arrested Lonnie Shields (B/M, 55 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) for aggravated battery after a shooting on Monday morning.

On March 17, 2025 around 10:39 a.m., officers with the Natchitoches Police Department were dispatched to the 1800 block of South Drive in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon officers arrival they made contact with the victim who said that he was in an argument with the suspect when he was shot in the foot. Investigators were able to speak with witnesses’ and were able to identify the suspect as Lonnie Shields who had fled the area on a tricycle prior to their arrival.

Investigators with the Natchitoches Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Violent Crime Task Force were able to locate Lonnie Shields at a residence on Brewton Street where he was placed under arrest without incident.

Lonnie Shields is being held at the Natchitoches Police Department due to the LaSalle Corrections / Natchitoches Detention Center being at capacity.
