“Make it a point to practice-winning in the classroom and on the basketball court,” remarked Ernie Davis, vice-president for Krewe of The 9-Mardi Gras krewe as the group recognized the Lakeview High School Girls 2025 championship basketball team.
An historic mark for the school, the team was crowned the winner of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Non-Select Division IV winner on March 8, first time in the school’s (Lakeview) history to embrace the title at the conclusion of a regular and play-off season and the team’s coach being named Coach of the Year.
The krewe presented each team member with a commendation token as they (team members) wore their championship medallion during the celebration at Chateau St. Denis Hotel. “We are very, very proud of the young ladies, Coach Fuller and staff for this level of elevation at Lakeview and in the community at-large. It is timely, March is Women’s History Month and the team made history this year,” said Rose Rock the krewe’s philanthropy committee chairperson.
