All three parish baseball teams head into playoffs, NCHS and St. Mary’s earn byes

Strong seasons by the baseball teams at Natchitoches Central and St. Mary’s have earned the Chiefs and Tigers first-round byes in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s playoff brackets released Tuesday, while Lakeview will travel to East Iberville in a bi-district game later this week.

NCHS (27-7) is the No. 7 seed in the Non-Select Division I tournament and will host next week in the regional round. Either No. 10 Dutchtown or No. 23 Airline will visit Chad Hargis Field for a best-of-three series.

St. Mary’s (21-5) is seeded ninth in the Select Division IV bracket. The Tigers will head to Monroe next week to play No. 9 St. Frederick. Both teams got first-round byes. The Division IV, Class B and C tournaments have winner-advance single games, while Divisions I, II and III all play best-of-three series in each round.

Lakeview (11-13) goes to East Iberville in a bi-district contest. Those can be played at any point through Saturday this week. No date was set as of Tuesday evening.
