Sandbags available to public in preparation for forecasted heavy rainfall

In anticipation of significant rainfall forecasted by the National Weather Service, the Natchitoches Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness, in partnership with the City of Natchitoches, will distribute sandbags to the public on Tuesday, May 6 from 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the City of Natchitoches Public Works Office, located at 110 Mill St.

Residents concerned about potential flooding are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to obtain sandbags and safeguard their homes and properties. This proactive measure is part of the parish’s ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and minimize the impact of severe weather conditions.

“We are urging residents to remain weather-aware and take appropriate action now, rather than waiting until conditions worsen,” said Deputy Mary Jones, Asst. Director of the Natchitoches Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness. “Our goal is to help the community be as prepared as possible.”
