The Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Foundation invites the community to fire up their engines and join the ride at its 37th Annual Gala: Biker Bash, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Natchitoches Events Center. This high-energy celebration will raise critical funds for the NRMC Cancer Center — and more importantly, honor six extraordinary individuals who embody hope and resilience in the face of cancer.
The spotlight of the evening will shine on the 2025 NRMC Cancer Champions — six patients whose strength, courage, and unwavering spirit inspire us all.
• Jamal Johnson faced Stage 3 B Cell Lymphoma with faith, positivity, and the unwavering support of his family and the NRMC Cancer Center team.
• Teresa Key has bravely battled ovarian cancer since 2015, including a recurrence in 2023. She credits her strength to God, her family, and the compassionate care she receives at NRMC.
• Jeremy Procell, diagnosed with rare male breast cancer, says the NRMC Cancer Center was a beacon of hope during one of the darkest moments in his life.
• Shelley Cartinez, a healthcare worker diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, chose NRMC for her radiation treatment and encourages others to prioritize early detection.
• Andy Miller was diagnosed with colon cancer shortly after moving to Natchitoches. Despite recurrence, he continues to live fully and credits NRMC for providing skilled, compassionate care close to home.
• Shelley Townson was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer just before her 40th birthday. She says the genuine kindness of the NRMC staff made a lasting impact on her healing journey.
“These Champions are the heart of this year’s Gala,” said Halie Errington, NRMC Foundation Development Director. “Each one of them represents not just survival, but strength, faith, and the power of community-based care. Their stories remind us why our mission matters.”
Proceeds from Biker Bash will benefit the NRMC Cancer Center, ensuring patients in the region continue to receive expert, compassionate cancer care close to home.
Adding to the excitement, The Chee-Weez will bring their high-energy performance to the stage for an unforgettable night of live music and entertainment.
A special thanks goes to Cathy Jacobs, whose creativity, attention to detail, and thoughtful planning helped bring this year’s Gala theme to life and contributed greatly to the event’s success.
“We’re proud to rally behind these Champions and support every patient who walks through our doors,” added Tom Matuschka, NRMC Vice President of Business Development & Philanthropy. “The Gala is a celebration, but it’s also a call to action — to support lifesaving services that impact real people in our community.”
Guests can expect an evening filled with dancing, food, drinks, and biker-themed fun — all in honor of a life-saving cause.
