The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an abandoned motorcycle on May 21 off Louisiana Highway 1, just south of LA Highway 490 near Chopin.

An observant motorist notified an NPSO deputy after spotting the motorcycle parked in a wooded area near the highway. Deputies arrived on the scene and located the abandoned vehicle.

Upon investigation, deputies ran the motorcycle’s license plate through the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS) and discovered that it was displaying a switched plate.

The motorcycle, a blue 1978 Honda model 978 with a yellow number 72 on the gas tank, appears to have possibly been used for racing in the past. The vehicle has been impounded as the investigation continues.
