Boater safe after Black Lake incident, no body recovered

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, NPSO Search and Rescue Team and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #9 responded to a report of a possible boater overboard on May 21 around lunchtime, near the Black Lake Bridge on La. Hwy 9, north of Campti, according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.

A passing motorist reported seeing a man clinging to the side of a boat in Black Lake. When the motorist turned around to check again, the individual was no longer visible, leading to concerns that the man may have fallen into the water.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that the man had safely swum to shore and did not require medical attention.

Authorities emphasize that no body was found.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Agents also assisted in the response.
Sheriff Wright and NPSO Deputies appreciate the concern from the community and thank all responding agencies for their quick action.
