Rear foundation collapse in Cloutierville displaces 18 residents, no injuries reported

A home in the 900 block of LA Highway 495 in Cloutierville partially collapsed, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and leaving 18 residents displaced.

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies, firefighters from Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #1, and EMS crews from Natchitoches Regional Medical Center responded to the scene at approximately 7:15 a.m. following a report from the NATCOM 911 Center.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered that 10 adults and 8 children had been living in the residence. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. A 28-year-old pregnant woman was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for precautionary observation.

Preliminary assessments suggest that the rear foundation of the home—built over an embankment—had gradually deteriorated, ultimately causing the collapse. The home is owned by Columbus and K. LaCour.

As a safety measure, Swepco utility crews were dispatched to disconnect electrical service to the residence.

The homeowners are now working to find alternate housing, and deputies remain on scene to continue evaluating the situation.
