Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a vehicle fire on May 26 around 3:38 pm in the 5300 block of University Parkway near I-49. The incident involved coordination with the Natchitoches Police Department and the Natchitoches City Fire Department.

Deputies patrolling the area reportedly observed the fire and promptly contacted NATCOM 911 to dispatch emergency fire units. While waiting for fire personnel to arrive, deputies assisted the motorist and successfully disengaged an Icee trailer from the burning truck. Despite their efforts, the truck was declared a total loss.

Deputies B. Keyser, J. Franks, K. Charest, and J. Etienne were on the scene and assisted with the response.

As a safety precaution, westbound lanes of University Parkway were temporarily closed while firefighters extinguished the blaze. The lanes have since been reopened to traffic.

No injuries were reported.
