The Natchitoches Police Department has been made aware of scammers who are attempting to defraud citizens out of money by posing as Utility Center employees. This is a common phone scam and the Natchitoches Utility Center would never contact any citizen in an attempt to receive any money for utility payments over the phone.

If you receive a phone call from a scammer never give them any personal information and end the call immediately.

Below are a few ways you can avoid becoming a victim of a scam:

Always be suspicious of unsolicited phone calls or phone numbers you do not recognize.
Never give money or personal information to someone that you do not know.
Always trust your instincts. If it sounds too good to be true it more than likely is a scam.
