Traffic stop leads to arrest of armed robbery suspect, seizure of drugs, firearm, cash

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Impact Team arrested two individuals on May 24 following a traffic stop within the Natchitoches city limits that led to the apprehension of a wanted armed robbery suspect and the seizure of a firearm, illegal drugs, and cash according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.

At approximately 5:10 p.m., deputies with the NPSO Impact Team conducted a traffic stop on a 2017 Hyundai Sonata for a traffic violation on St. Clair Street.  The driver was identified as Anyia R. Davis, 20, of Campti, LA. Two passengers were also in the vehicle, including Jeremiah D. Metoyer, 18, of Fort Bend, Texas.

During the stop, NATCOM 911 advised deputies that Davis was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for Armed Robbery issued by the Tenth Judicial District Court. The warrant stems from the November 27, 2024 armed robbery of Cowboy’s Truck Stop in Ajax, where shots were fired. No injuries were reported, but cash was taken.  Davis was arrested without incident.

Davis, a convicted felon, has a prior criminal history including:
Aggravated Flight from an Officer
Aggravated Assault
Possession of Marijuana
Resisting an Officer
Violation of a Protective Order

While speaking with the vehicle’s passengers, deputies conducted a pat-down of Metoyer and discovered a concealed handgun in his waistband. Metoyer attempted to flee but was quickly subdued. A subsequent search led to the seizure of a loaded Glock 26 9mm handgun and approximately 10 grams of suspected marijuana. An inventory of the vehicle uncovered $2,267 in cash hidden inside a camouflage ski mask. The cash was seized as evidence, and Metoyer was provided a receipt in accordance with forfeiture procedures.

Both individuals were booked into the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center on the following charges:
Anyia R. Davis
1 count of Armed Robbery
Faulty Equipment (Right Tail Lamp Assembly Not Functioning)
Jeremiah D. Metoyer
Illegal Carrying of a Firearm
Possession of CDS I (Marijuana)
Resisting Arrest

All evidence collected will be submitted to the crime lab for analysis. Both suspects remain in custody.
The Natchitoches Police Department assisted in the arrests.
