Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputy S. Kennedy responded to a traffic incident on July 10 around 3:30 pm involving a commercial vehicle on U.S. Highway 84 just east of Clarence.
According to deputies on the scene, the driver of a loaded chip truck reported pulling onto the shoulder after experiencing mechanical issues. At some point after stopping, the driver detached the trailer from the truck. A short time later, the trailer overturned into a nearby ditch due to the softness of the ground.
A towing service was contacted to assist with recovery and cleanup efforts. Motorists traveling through the area were urged to use caution and avoid distractions while crews worked to clear the scene.
