Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to two separate 911 calls on Aug. 5 between 6 pm and midnight reporting suspected drug overdoses in the Campti area.
Emergency medical personnel from Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS were dispatched to assist at both locations.
Upon arrival, deputies immediately began life-saving measures, including administering CPR and Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. Both individuals were transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office is once again urging the public to be aware of the dangers of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that can be fatal even in very small doses. The misuse of any narcotic substance poses serious risks and consequences.
Narcotics detectives are actively investigating both incidents.
Anyone with information regarding the distribution or possession of illegal narcotics in the community is encouraged to contact the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit at (318) 357-7830. All calls will be handled confidentially.
Sheriff Stuart Wright praised the rapid and professional response of both deputies and EMS personnel, noting that their immediate actions were critical in stabilizing the individuals involved.
“The quick response and teamwork between our deputies and EMS personnel potentially saved lives,” said Sheriff Wright. “We remain committed to protecting our community and aggressively pursuing those who distribute dangerous drugs like fentanyl.”
