A suspicious person call led to the arrest of an Alexandria man who had been wanted by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office since 2016, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright. NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies responded to a report of a suspicious male walking along the shoulder of Hwy. 1, just South of Cypress on Sept. 29 around 8:04 pm
Deputies were informed that two DOTD tractors were parked off the roadway near the area where the man was spotted.
Upon arrival, two deputies made contact with the individual, who was identified as 48-year-old Jimmy L. Robinson of Houston Street in Alexandria. A warrants check through NCIC and local databases revealed that Robinson was wanted by the 10th Judicial District Court in Natchitoches Parish since January 2016 for Failure to Appear in Court on charges of Battery of a Correctional Center Employee.
Robinson was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently transported to the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center, where he was booked on the outstanding Failure to Appear charge. He remains in custody at this time.
Robinson informed deputies he was trying to make his way to Alexandria.
Lt. B. Dalme made the arrest with assistance from Deputy A. Coon.
Sheriff Stuart Wright emphasized the importance of public involvement, stating:
“This arrest is a direct result of a citizen who took the time to report something that didn’t seem right. We encourage the public to continue reporting suspicious activity. Your calls make a difference and help us keep our communities safe.”
