Six new Natchitoches Treasures inducted

The Natchitoches Treasures program, a feature of our city’s life since 2008, recognizes community members whose lives exemplify “service, generosity, volunteerism and love of their community.” In an Oct. 10 ceremony presided over by Natchitoches newspaperman and civic leader Randy Stelly, six new Natchitoches Treasures joined the ranks of a most accomplished group of their fellow citizens.

Mazette Queen opened the event with a simply stunning rendition of the National Anthem after which Fr. St. Romaine of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception gave the invocation.

Named as the 2025 Natchitoches Treasures were: Alma Alost, Debra Gant, Burley Johnson, Emile Metoyer, Elvin Shields and Diane Vienne.

The new Natchitoches Treasures join a long legacy of service and selfless dedication. Thank you for making our community a better place!
