Update: DeSoto Parish manhunt follows high-speed pursuit out of Natchitoches Parish

UPDATE

A high-speed pursuit that began in Natchitoches Parish on Nov. 16 around 4 pm led to a manhunt in neighboring Desoto Parish, prompting law enforcement to issue safety warnings to residents in the affected areas.

According to the Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit crossed parish lines before the suspect fled on foot in the Hwy. 510, Asseff Road, and Fortson Road area. Deputies, assisted by K9 units and drones, searched the surrounding rural community and advised residents to remain cautious. Law enforcement urged the public not to pick up pedestrians, to keep doors locked, and to report any suspicious individuals.

No description of the suspect was initially available.

At 6:10 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office reported that a Desoto K9 team successfully located the suspect, who was taken into custody.

 

ORIGINAL

NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies were dispatched by the NATCOM 911 Center to a reported disturbance involving two individuals on La. Hwy 485 near Mallard Hill according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Robeline Police advised they would be assisting deputies.

When Robeline Police and deputies arrived in the area, they attempted to engage with a blue Honda Accord, which failed to stop. A pursuit ensued near Mallard Hill on La. Hwy 485, continuing through the Spanish Lake and Allen communities before entering I-49 northbound.

Louisiana State Police Troop E (Alexandria), Troop G (Shreveport), and the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office were requested to assist. The pursuit continued northbound into DeSoto Parish, where the vehicle exited at the Asseff Road interchange and DeSoto deputies joined the effort.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Asseff Road with two occupants remaining in the car and two fleeing on foot. Multiple units from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office responded, deploying K-9 units and drones as part of an active manhunt.

Deputies believe the driver fled due to outstanding Natchitoches Parish warrants.

Other NPSO deputies are interviewing a female at Robeline Police Department allegedly involved in the original disturbance.

The scene remains active in DeSoto Parish.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m., DeSoto Parish deputies took two individuals into custody who had fled from the vehicle, bringing the total to four individuals detained as the investigation continues and deputies work to piece together the sequence of events.

There are no reported injuries in the incident.
