The Cane River Waterway Commission has issued a public service announcement regarding an abandoned work barge located at the Washington Street boat landing.
In accordance with Louisiana Revised Statutes 34:843 and 34:3269, officials say multiple attempts have been made to locate the owner or owners of the vessel.
Effective 8 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, the owner has 10 business days to remove the barge from the boat launch. If it is not removed within that timeframe, the commission will take action to remove it at the owner’s expense and may classify it as abandoned property to be sold.
