
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit Criminal Patrol agents conducted a traffic stop on April 29 around 12:30 am on a blue sedan traveling southbound on I-49 near the 148-mile marker according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.
During the stop, agents confirmed that both the driver and passenger had active warrants. As the investigation continued, agents located approximately 34 pounds of suspected high-grade marijuana and approximately $1,600 in U.S. currency.
Following the traffic stop, agents with the NPSO Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment within the University Terrace complex on Fairgrounds Road.
During the search, agents located three firearms, including two handguns; a Glock 9mm and Glock .40 caliber, and one KelTec 5.56 rifle. Agents also located approximately 20 grams of suspected high-grade marijuana, suspected Alprazolam pills, and suspected Oxycodone pills.
As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were charged:
Demarcus Berguin, 31, of the 700 block of Fifth Street, Natchitoches, La.
•Possession of Firearm or Carrying Concealed Weapon by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies
•Weapons Violation in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
•Improper Lane Usage
•Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS
•Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS
•Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule IV CDS
•Second or Subsequent Drug Offense
•Failure to Appear
Daboris Collins, of the 500 block of Lakeview Apartments, Natchitoches, Louisiana:
•Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS
This investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests and charges are possible. Both remain incarcerated in the Natchitoches Detention Center.
