The City of Natchitoches announced that a portion of Church Street in downtown Natchitoches will be temporarily closed Thursday, May 14 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The closure will affect Church Street between 2nd Street and 3rd Street.

According to city officials, the closure is necessary to allow contractors working for the Natchitoches Parish Governmentto replace HVAC and chiller units located on top of the District Courthouse. A crane will be used during the project, requiring the roadway to be blocked for safety purposes.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure. Barricades will remain in place throughout the project.

City officials thanked the public for its patience and cooperation during the work.
