Thanks to a generous donation from longtime area businessman and owner of the 4-Way and 3S’s Pizza, John Abraham, and Vance Zahorski, CEO of Linecutterz, each first responder in Natchitoches parish will be suppled with a Vehicle Escape Tool at no cost. The compact tool can either be carried on a keychain or clipped to a car’s sun visor and enables the user to easily cut seat belts and break car window glass to either escape being trapped in a vehicle or to rescue someone who is trapped.
The two businessmen, who became friends after meeting at a trade show, donated 475 vehicle Escape Tools, enough for every first responder in the parish to have one. Representatives from the City Marshal’s office, Natchitoches and Northwestern State University police departments as well as the Natchitoches fire department, parish volunteer fire districts, and NRMC EMS were on hand at the Natchitoches Events Center Thursday, May 14 to receive the tools.
Mr. Abraham is retiring after a long business career and decided to celebrate that milestone in his life with one more act of public service. He called his friend at Linecutterz and the two men made the donation happen. Seconds count in an emergency and these Vehicle Escape Tools will enable our parish’s first responders to better assist people in their time of need. The Natchitoches Parish Journal wishes John Abraham all the best as he enters the next chapter in his life.
