Natchitoches Parish voters rejected a trio of parishwide property tax measures on Saturday while approving a localized road district renewal, a municipal sales tax in Goldonna, and selecting a new mayor in the Village of Natchez.
With all 50 precincts counted, residents weighed critical municipal candidate races alongside ballot measures projected to secure local infrastructure and community services for the next decade.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting late Saturday night, here is how the ballots fell:
Parishwide Propositions
Voters rejected three separate parishwide propositions, each slated for a 10-year duration beginning in 2028 and running through 2037.

Proposition 1 (Library): A continuation of an 8-mill special tax to acquire, construct, improve, renovate, maintain, and operate public libraries in the parish, including automation, materials, and furnishings. The tax was expected to generate an estimated $3,624,000 annually.

Proposition 2 (Health Unit): A continuation and rededication of a 3-mill tax to construct, improve, maintain, and operate public health units, or for any other lawful parish purpose. It was expected to bring in an estimated $1,359,000 annually.

Proposition 3 (Public Buildings): A 3-mill renewal dedicated strictly to maintaining and operating public buildings within Natchitoches Parish, expected to bring in an estimated $1,359,000 annually.

Road District No. 40
In Road District No. 40, which encompasses 41 precincts, property owners narrowly approved a 10-year, 5-mill renewal running from 2028 through 2037. Dedicated to constructing, improving, and maintaining public roads and highways within the district, the levy is estimated to generate $1,514,000 annually.

Village of Goldonna
In Goldonna’s single precinct, voters overwhelmingly approved a 1% sales and use tax slated for a 10-year period beginning July 1, 2026. Estimated to collect $25,000 annually, the proceeds are legally dedicated to maintaining, repairing, improving, and equipping the Village Community Center, formerly known as the Goldonna Elementary-Junior High School.

Village of Natchez Municipal Races
In the Village of Natchez, voters selected local leadership for the upcoming term, casting ballots for mayor and filling three available seats on the Board of Aldermen.
Mayor
Monique Hamilton Sarpy secured the mayor’s seat with 53% of the vote, defeating Patsy Ward Hoover.
