The Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run, known as the “Flame of Hope,” is a statewide movement that raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics Louisiana. The torch symbolizes courage, acceptance, inclusion, and the unwavering spirit of Special Olympics athletes. Each year, law enforcement officers across Louisiana proudly carry the torch through communities to show their continued support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and to help promote opportunities for athletes to compete and succeed.
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright said, “The Torch Run is more than just a run through our community. It represents unity, encouragement, and support for the incredible Special Olympics athletes who inspire us all with their determination and perseverance. We are proud to stand alongside our law enforcement partners and community members in helping carry the ‘Flame of Hope’ and supporting such an outstanding cause.”
Deputy Wendy Llorens, Natchitoches Parish “Torch Run” Coordinator, said, “It is always an honor to help organize and participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Louisiana. Watching our athletes run alongside law enforcement officers and seeing the support from our community is truly inspiring. This event represents hope, inclusion, and the strong partnerships we share in supporting these amazing athletes and their accomplishments.”
