Students participating in Camp Fast Forward at Northwestern State University received a firsthand look at emergency medical services this week during a collaborative visit hosted by emergency service companies in the area.
The event brought students together with flight crew members and local EMS professionals for a behind-the-scenes experience highlighting careers in healthcare, emergency response, and public service.
During the visit, students were able to explore an ambulance and learn about the equipment used in emergency response situations. Crew members also demonstrated key tools and explained how they are used during critical patient care scenarios.
Participants engaged in hands-on learning activities designed to introduce basic emergency medical skills and provide insight into the fast-paced environment of pre-hospital care. Students also heard directly from emergency personnel about the responsibilities and challenges involved in responding to medical emergencies.
Organizers said the goal of the event was to connect students with real-world career pathways and encourage interest in healthcare-related fields by giving them direct exposure to professionals in the field.
Air Evac 160 and Natchitoches EMS emphasized their commitment to investing in future generations through education, outreach, and community engagement initiatives like Camp Fast Forward.
The event concluded with appreciation extended to students, educators, and first responders who participated in the program and helped provide an interactive learning experience.
