The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a temporary closure of LA 6 Business at the Union Pacific railroad crossing near Second Street in Natchitoches.

The closure is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting. The crossing is located approximately one mile east of the intersection with LA 1.

According to DOTD, the closure is necessary to allow Union Pacific crews to perform maintenance work on the railroad crossing.

Detour signage will be posted to direct motorists around the work area.

Officials note that all construction and maintenance activities are weather dependent and could be rescheduled if conditions warrant. Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling near work zones and remain alert for workers and equipment.
