Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested an Oklahoma man on felony narcotics charges while traveling through Natchitoches Parish on Interstate 49, resulting in the seizure of illegal narcotics, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.
On Tuesday afternoon, June 23, 2026, at approximately 2:25 p.m., a deputy assigned to the NPSO Drug Enforcement Unit was working a special enforcement detail on Interstate 49 near Ajax when he stopped a southbound 2015 Chevrolet Camaro for speeding.
Deputies clocked the vehicle traveling 87 mph in a posted 75 mph zone.
Deputies identified the driver as 39-year-old Xavier W. Major of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A juvenile passenger was also traveling in the vehicle.
Upon making contact with Major, deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and observed that he appeared extremely nervous.
During the investigation, deputies learned that Major possessed two driver’s licenses, one issued by Oklahoma and another issued by Louisiana, which was suspended. Deputies also discovered that Major had a prior narcotics-related criminal history.
When questioned, Major admitted he had smoked marijuana earlier.
Deputies obtained consent to search the vehicle and requested a backup unit to assist. During the search, deputies discovered and seized:
• More than 1.6 pounds of suspected marijuana
• Twenty jars of suspected THC wax
• Ten THC vape cartridges
• A suspected burned marijuana cigarette
• Digital scales
• Additional drug paraphernalia
Major was arrested without incident and transported to the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center, where he was booked on the following charges:
• Possession of CDS I Marijuana with Intent to Distribute – Second Offense
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Speeding
The seized evidence will be submitted to the crime laboratory for analysis.
The juvenile passenger was transported to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office and was later released into the custody of a relative.
Deputies say Major was traveling from Oklahoma to an area in St. Landry Parish.
Deputy S. Dieter was assisted by Deputy H. Tingle during the investigation and arrest.
