Natchitoches Parish President John Salter has vetoed a proposed ordinance that would have amended parish code provisions related to littering and the abusive use of parish roads.

Proposed Ordinance 017-2026 was approved by the Natchitoches Parish Council on June 15.

In a June 18 memorandum to council members, Salter said additional time is needed to further research and develop the ordinance so its details and outcomes better meet the needs of the parish.

Salter encouraged constructive input as the ordinance is further considered.
