NCHS’ Victory Club held a Golf Scramble fundraiser Saturday, July 11 at the Northwestern Hills Golf Course. Eighty golfers in 18 teams set out for a fun day of competition. Some of the holes featured creative interpretations of golfing rules, including one in which the golfer could punt or throw a football in lieu of teeing off and continue play where the football landed. After working up an appetite on the course, the golfers enjoyed a jambalaya lunch prepared by chef volunteers from City Bank.
The scramble was a good time for a good cause. The 100 plus young men of Chiefs football have been hard at work under Coach Brad Laird. Coach Laird is in his third year at the helm of the Chiefs after serving as head coach of the NSU Demons for six seasons and the Ruston High Bearcats for 4 seasons. He and his staff bring a wealth of leadership experience at the College and high school levels.
Upcoming events for Chief fans include the “Meet the Chiefs” fundraiser to be held at the Events Center August 15. The Chiefs will be at home in Turpin Stadium for both a scrimmage and the Jamboree. Their debut home game will see them facing Sam Houston on September 4.These young men are well coached and are putting in the work. They are a class act that will represent our community well.
