Eighteen K-12 teachers from 13 school systems across Louisiana got to enjoy some Natchitoches hospitality at a Social Studies workshop conducted by Louisiana Public Broadcasting and hosted at Natchitoches’ Fort St, Jean Baptiste State Historic Site Thursday, July 16. The Natchitoches Parish school system was ably represented by Fairview Alpha’s Trisha Weaver.

The theme of the workshop was “Louisiana’s Hidden History-Revolutionary Louisiana” and explored our state’s little known contributions to the Revolutionary War. Participating social studies teachers expanded their professional knowledge and received packets they can incorporate into their lesson plans.

The visiting teachers also were given tours of both Fort St. Baptiste and the Los Ades Historic sites led by the park’s interpretive ranger staff.
