Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and multiple units from Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #6 were dispatched on July 28 at 2:19 p.m. by the NATCOM 911 Center to a reported fire at St. Mark’s Baptist Church on the Eight Mile Loop at Carey Scarborough Road, just west of Natchitoches, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Units arrived on scene and found the structure totally burned and on the ground. According to sources, the church had been closed for services for several years.

Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #6 notified the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office. Sheriff’s detectives were also notified.

There were no reported injuries. The scene remained active as deputies J. Franks and J. Robertson were on scene on behalf of the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At the time of the report, the cause of the fire was unknown.
