Water service has been restored to East Natchitoches following repairs to a major water line, but a precautionary boil advisory remains in effect for customers in the affected area.

The City of Natchitoches announced July 31 that repairs to the water line serving East Natchitoches had been successfully completed and water service was fully restored. However, as a precaution, all customers in East Natchitoches are under a boil advisory until further notice and are advised to boil all water before use.

The advisory follows an emergency water outage earlier in the day after crews shut off service to repair a major water line that serves as the primary water supply to the east side of the city.

The boil advisory also affected several restaurants along Keyser Avenue, where businesses adjusted operations while waiting for the advisory to be lifted. Restaurants sold the food they were able to prepare safely and limited beverage sales to bottled drinks rather than fountain beverages.

City officials thanked residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation during the emergency repair and said updates on the boil advisory will be provided through the City of Natchitoches’ official communication channels.
