Emergency Closure begins on US 84 at Bourbeaux Bayou in Natchitoches Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced an emergency closure of US 84 at Bourbeaux Bayou near Clarence due to structural deficiencies in a box culvert.

The closure began Tuesday, Aug. 4, and affects the culvert located approximately 1.35 miles east of US 71 near Clarence in Natchitoches Parish.

According to DOTD, the culvert has been determined to have structural deficiencies that make it unsafe for public travel and requires repair or replacement. The roadway will remain closed until further notice.

Eastbound US 84 traffic:
Motorists traveling eastbound on US 84 should turn south onto US 71 at the intersection of US 71/US 84/LA 6. Continue south on US 71 for approximately 1.75 miles to LA 1226, then turn left and travel east for approximately 4.8 miles to reconnect with US 84.

Westbound US 84 traffic:
Motorists traveling westbound on US 84 should turn west onto LA 1226 and continue for approximately 4.8 miles to US 71. Turn right onto US 71 northbound and continue approximately 1.75 miles until US 71 merges with US 84.

DOTD reminds motorists to drive with caution, follow posted detour signs, remain alert for work crews and equipment, and allow additional travel time while repairs are underway.
