After a summer hiatus, Young at Heart luncheons for seniors resumed Aug. 5 at First United Methodist Church.
Attendees enjoyed a program of country and gospel music performed by musicians Ben Rushing and Keith Shirley.
June, July and August birthdays were celebrated by Joanne Collier, Joyce Baird and Carol Sheppard. June, July and August wedding anniversaries were celebrated by Sonny and Evelyn Evans and by Paul and Joyce Baird.
Harvey Polk served as master of ceremonies, and Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal. “Fishing on the Cane” table decorations were provided by the church’s Grace Circle.
Young at Heart meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. in Bostick Hall at First United Methodist Church.
The meeting is non-denominational, and all community seniors are invited to attend for entertainment, food and fellowship. Those attending are asked to pay a $5 fee or bring a covered dish to share.
The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 2.
