
Natchitoches Police Department officers were dispatched on Aug. 17 around 7:05 am to the 100 block of University Parkway in reference to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
The initial investigation by the Natchitoches Police Department revealed that a 2005 Honda CRV was heading east on University Parkway when a pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck by the vehicle near Cypress Avenue. The pedestrian was issued a citation for crossing at other than crosswalks.
The person struck by the vehicle was transported to a hospital in Rapides Parish where they have since been released.
The Natchitoches Police Department would like to remind all pedestrians to be aware of their surroundings when walking or running near a roadway. Pedestrians should always look both ways before crossing or entering any street and wear reflective clothing if possible. These simple safety practices can prevent tragedies on our roads.
