
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies along with Louisiana State Police and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS were dispatched to a vehicle/bicyclist crash on Sept. 2 around 7:48 pm on Hwy. 494 near Vienna Bend according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say a 25-year-old Natchitoches male bicyclist was transported from the scene by EMS to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for treatment of what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies say the driver of the vehicle is uninjured.
Troopers assigned to LSP Troop-E Alexandria are investigating the crash.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reminds bicyclists to use extra caution when riding after dark.
Make sure your bicycle has proper front and rear lighting, wear reflective or high-visibility clothing, and always wear a helmet. Ride with the flow of traffic, obey traffic signs and signals, and stay alert for vehicles, potholes, debris, animals, and other roadway hazards.
Motorists are also reminded to slow down, stay alert, and give bicyclists plenty of room when passing.
