The monthly Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held on September 2 at the First United Methodist Church.
Erin Boyt, Community Liaison for Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, gave her annual presentation on NRMC happenings. New and expanded provider services include NRMC Neurology Associates, NRMC OB/GYN Associates, and the NRMC Pain Institute. Erin also revealed plans for a new Cancer Center PET scanner, a new Ambulatory Tower, and a new Labor/Delivery Unit that will be coming in the future to further improve patient services. New Stryker beds are now in every room, and a new AI Assistant is now available to the public 24/7 to answer basic questions about NMRC services (text “Nattie” at (318) 667-7973).
September birthdays are being celebrated by Nell Parker, Betty Whitehead, Judy Polk, Harvey Polk, Paul Baird, and Carla Bond. Nettles and Glenelle Brown are celebrating their September wedding anniversary.
Nettles Brown served as Master of Ceremonies, and Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal. Table decorations with an NSU Football theme were provided by the church’s Faith Circle.
Young at Heart meets on the first Wednesday monthly at 11 AM in Bostick Hall at the church. The meeting is non-denominational, and all community seniors are invited to come and enjoy the program, food, and fellowship. Attendees are asked to pay a $5.00 fee or to bring a covered dish to share. The next meeting is scheduled for October 7.
