Multiple grass fires were reported on I-49 near the Powhatan exit north of Natchitoches on Sept, 14 at 10:56 a.m., according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #7 were dispatched by the NATCOM 911 Center to the reports.

NPFD #7 had the fires contained by approximately 11:39 p.m.

A burn ban remains in effect in Natchitoches Parish due to dry conditions.
