Natchitoches Parish Fire District 6 was dispatched to a grass fire on Bermuda Road Friday, Sept. 18, 2026.

Upon arrival, units found a large grass fire bordering an agricultural field that was rapidly extending into a tree line.

A drone was used to determine the size of the fire and check for possible exposures. NPFD6 units extinguished the fire with units staged in the agricultural field and along the roadside.

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry was contacted for assistance and responded to establish a fire line in the wooded area to prevent further extension.

Engines 1 and 17 responded, along with Rescue 1 and seven NPFD6 members.

A burn ban remains in effect for all of Natchitoches Parish, and there is an extreme fire risk due to continued dry conditions with low humidity.
