Summer is officially over….at least that’s what the calendar says. September 22 marked the first day of Autumn/Fall. I think we have all had enough hot weather and are ready for some cooler weather.
The Robeline Heritage Society is busy planning the annual Robeline Heritage Festival. The festival will take place on the first weekend in October. The festival will be located in the downtown park area on Oct. 2-3. This year’s festival will feature a parade, activities, food, shopping, entertainment, games and an auction for the whole family’s enjoyment. The festival theme, chosen by the Society committee, is honoring and acknowledging our outdoors sportsman. We are celebrating our community’s involvement in hunting and fishing. Like many small rural communities, hunting and fishing are not just hobbies; they are a means of sustainability. Festival t-shirts, depicting the festival theme, are available to buy on the festival website, by contacting a committee member or at the festival.
The festival committee is seeking parade entries. If you are an avid hunter or fisherman, pageant queen, politician, band, sports team, dance group, cheer group, church group, civic group, Robeline High graduate, motorcycle clubs or anyone in the community riding recreational vehicles and you are interested in riding in this year’s parade, please contact 318-602-8682. You can also pick up a parade form at several local businesses. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 at 2pm. Lineup will begin at 1pm. Each parade entry will be judged, and cash prizes will be awarded.
