Troop E Troopers stopped a vehicle traveling at an excessively high speed on Sept. 23 on Interstate 49 in Natchitoches Parish. The stop led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive and the discovery of a stolen vehicle.

During the stop, the driver provided two false names and dates of birth before giving his correct information. Troopers then discovered he had an outstanding warrant for escape through the U.S. Marshals Service in Arlington, Texas.

Troopers were later notified by the Baton Rouge Police Department that the vehicle had been stolen earlier that morning from a rental car lot at the Baton Rouge airport.

The suspect was arrested without incident and remains in custody. He will be booked before being turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service.
