September is Sepsis Awareness Month, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center has been sharing information across the community to help people recognize the signs of sepsis and understand the importance of seeking care quickly.

Erica Outlaw, Emergency Department Nursing Unit Supervisor, provided sepsis awareness education to Kiwanis and the Natchitoches Parish Council on Aging. At the Council on Aging, she was joined by Misty Calvert, Director of Emergency Services, and Paula Howell, Quality Improvement RN.

Outlaw also provided specialized training to staff at the Courtyard to help them recognize and respond to possible sepsis in residents.

NRMC thanked Outlaw, Calvert and Howell for helping the community stay informed and reminded residents that sepsis is a medical emergency and that those who suspect it should seek medical care immediately.
