Grant Brings Student Food Pantry to BPCC Natchitoches
BPCC Foundation

The BPCC Foundation has received a $7,000 grant from the Red River Credit Union Gives Foundation to extend the Cavalier Care Center to Bossier Parish Community College’s Natchitoches and Sabine Valley campuses. The center, which now operates only on the Bossier campus, provides students with food, personal care items and referrals to other resources. The grant will pay for food and snacks, grab-and-go meals and prepared foods, along with refrigerators, freezers, shelving, storage bins, crates, carts and dollies to store and move it. Part of the money goes to the center’s Dire Need Fund, which helps students facing sudden financial emergencies that could force them to drop out.

“This generous investment will allow us to reach more students and respond more effectively when they are facing difficult circumstances,” said Sandra Roberson, director of the Cavalier Care Center. “Meeting a student’s basic needs can make the difference between that student stepping away from college and continuing toward graduation.”
