Northwestern State University news release
Northwestern State has named four acting and interim academic administrators who will serve while national searches are under way for permanent successors, Executive Vice President and Provost Greg Handel said.
Steve Horton has been named acting director of the School of Education and will serve on a volunteer basis. Kayleigh MacQueen is interim head of the Department of Veterinary Technology, McKenna Marsh is interim head of the Department of Hospitality, Management and Tourism, and Charles Pellegrin is interim director of the School of Social Sciences and Applied Programs. The appointments are subject to approval by the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System.
“I am delighted to welcome these new academic administrators to their leadership roles at Northwestern State,” Handel said. “Each brings valuable experience, expertise and a genuine commitment to our students, faculty and University community.”
Second Flu Shot Clinic at NSU Oct. 14
Northwestern State University news release
Northwestern State will hold a second flu shot clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Student Union Ballroom during the university’s annual Benefits Fair. The clinic is open to students, faculty and staff, who should bring an insurance card and a completed waiver form.
A first clinic was held Monday, Oct. 5, in Alost Hall, timed so nursing students could get vaccinated before clinical rotations. Walgreens administered the shots at no out-of-pocket cost. Nursing students must complete a series of health and certification requirements before starting rotations, where they work with patients under supervision.
“The flu shot on campus made preparing for clinicals easy because I just had to go a small distance to get my shot, and it was during my off time instead of having to make time or an appointment somewhere else,” said Elnora Hagger, a junior Bachelor of Science in Nursing student from Simmesport.
