The third annual Run for Rod 5K Memorial Run was held this morning at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, bringing the community together for an event promoting fellowship, fitness and remembrance.

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies provided escort support and traffic control to help ensure participants could safely travel the route.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office extended its appreciation to Rod’s parents, NPSO Major Chad Nelson and Deirdre Nelson, volunteers and participants for keeping Rod’s memory alive. The office also asked the community to continue praying for his family.

Deputies also provided security support during the St. Augustine Festival.
