District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington announced a 40-year sentence in a recent manslaughter case.
Destiny Reese, 32 of Natchitoches, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 40 years at hard labor in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
The conviction relates to the March 2024 beating death of a Provencal man.
Following Reese’s guilty plea, Judge Lala Sylvester ordered a pre-sentence investigation.
Before imposing sentence, Judge Sylvester considered the investigation, victim impact statements from the victim’s family and friends, and the facts of the case. Assistant District Attorney Jason Methvin prosecuted the case for the District Attorney’s Office.
