Campti officials expect alternate water well to come online Friday, urge continued conservation

The Town of Campti anticipates bringing an alternate water well online Friday, October 23, as officials continue working to address ongoing problems with the town’s water system.

In an update to residents, Mayor Katrina Evans said that even after the alternate well becomes operational, the system will require additional time to recover and rebuild water levels and pressure.

Residents are being asked to continue conserving water as much as possible while repairs and recovery efforts continue.

Evans also clarified that the Town of Campti is not currently in violation of any state requirements involving the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) or the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

According to the mayor, the town is dealing with an unforeseen event that has placed a significant strain on its water system.

The Louisiana Department of Health is working alongside the Town of Campti and Cenla Environmental to help resolve the issue and restore normal operations.

Evans also acknowledged that updates shared through the town’s Facebook page have been forwarded to state officials, senators and the Attorney General’s Office.

The mayor stated that the town respects residents’ rights to seek information and answers while officials remain focused on resolving the water system problems and keeping the community informed.

In addition to the water system update, the town announced that additional bottled water will be available Friday morning at Town Hall.

Residents may receive one case of bottled water while supplies last.

Town officials expressed appreciation to local supporters who have helped secure water for residents during the ongoing situation.

Evans acknowledged the frustration and inconvenience caused by the water system problems and asked residents for continued patience and cooperation as work continues to restore service.

The town stated that additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
