A new day for Demon athletics

Friday, October 23 was a red-letter day for the 375 student athletes who compete for the Northwestern State University Demons in 14 NCAA Division I sports as the David and Sherry Morgan Health Performance Center was officially opened in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ultra-modern facility features an 11,600 square foot weight room that can accommodate over 100 users at a time. The facility also features a nutrition center and training rooms.

The Health Performance Center is named for David and Sherry Morgan, 1973 NSU alumni whose generous $1.5 million donation to the center’s construction was the lynchpin of the whole project which began under the direction of retired athletics director Greg Burke and was completed with the leadership of current NSU AD Kevin Bostian.

In addition, their generous spirit extends to academics and student life, through scholarships devoted to NSU students given each year with the amount now climbing to $100,000 annually. The Morgans are advocates of Greek Life through their association with Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority during their undergraduate days at Northwestern. They are also supportive of the NSU business school.

The debut of the David and Sherry Morgan Health Performance Center is a truly transformational event for NSU athletics and the campus landscape. Fork ‘em Demons!
