The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the completion of another critical investment in the state’s highway network – the LA 1 asphalt overlay project south of Natchez in Natchitoches Parish.
The $3 million project stretched from the Old River Bridge to LA 494 near the Cypress community, providing 3.5 miles of roadway improvements.
Work included full-depth base repairs, utilizing a paving mat that acts as a moisture barrier to protect the base and help prevent future damage, new asphalt paving, fresh roadway striping & signage, guardrail installation, and related work.
No further lane closures or other traffic restrictions are anticipated as part of this project. DOTD appreciates the patience of the traveling public while these improvements were underway.
This project was made possible by funding allocated from the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund (LTIF) during the 2025 Regular Legislative Session.
