Judge Robert Owsley thanks Ward 1 voters following re-election

From Our Hearts, Thank You, Natchitoches Ward 1!

As we reflect on the past six months, we are filled with so much gratitude. This campaign was about far more than winning an election. It was about the people, the conversations, the kindness, and the friendships that reminded us why Natchitoches is such a special place.

We knocked on over 3,400 doors, sometimes in the sweltering Louisiana heat. And what we found behind those doors was something beautiful. People offering us cold water, inviting us inside to enjoy a little air conditioning, and taking time out of their day just to talk. Those simple acts of kindness meant the world to us.

We smiled every time we saw one of our yard signs standing proudly in someone’s yard, especially knowing some of you had to put them back up every single week after mowing! You may think that was a small gesture, but to us, it spoke volumes.

And then there were the conversations. Catching up with old friends, reconnecting with family, meeting new neighbors, sharing a laugh, and sometimes just listening.

But perhaps the most touching moment came on Election Day, when we saw the number of people who took the time to go to the polls and make their voices heard. Every single vote mattered, and every single voter mattered.

We also want to sincerely thank Mr. Cloyd Benjamin for running such an honest, thoughtful, professional, and respectful campaign. It was a reminder that we can compete for the same position and still show one another kindness and respect.

To everyone who opened their door, offered us water, displayed a sign, shared an encouraging word, or simply gave us a few minutes of their time, please know how much you touched our hearts.

You gave us more than your votes. You gave us your time, your kindness, your stories, and your trust. And those are things we will never forget.

I am humbled and honored to continue serving as your City Court Judge.

My family and I, thank you, Natchitoches Ward 1. We walked into this campaign hoping to earn your support, but we walked away with something even greater: a deeper love and appreciation for the people who make this community home.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Judge Robert Owsley
