Northwestern State University’s chapter of the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for international scholars hosted a program entitled “Works of Our Common Kindred” Sunday November 1 at NSU’s Magale auditorium. The event was held to honor the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and featured several superbly done musical pieces performed by international students and NSU CAPA faculty.
The program concluded with a reading of the Declaration of Independence with an interesting twist – NSU faculty and students read passages from the Declaration in their native languages. That reading brought home the universality of the American experience and of the various groups who came here to build a better life.
The audience and performers were then treated to a reception in the Magale lobby that featured different international foods.
